“La da da da da da da da, la da doot da doot doot da doot da doo”

Or something like that.

I sang it over and over and over again while rocking him. His eyes finally closed, and he drifted off to sleep.

It wasn’t his typical nap time, but he was feeling puny and needed some extra rest.

It truly delights me that my singing soothes him.

When I was a kid, I sang in the church choir and in our high school chorus. I enjoyed it, but I wasn’t great at it.

My singing voice is best suited for the shower and the car. It’s not really even appropriate for karaoke.

But Marshall likes it.

When I lay him down in the tub at night I sing “twinkle twinkle little star” to him, and we lock eyes, and I can tell that he is just totally calmed and relaxed by it. In that moment, I can see in him that he feels the depth of my love for him.
