Wowza, Wallace! You are one month old today! We are so thankful that you’re here. You are the perfect addition to our family. After putting on quite the performance at birth, you quieted down and had a very calm first couple weeks of life. You have started to “wake up” a little more and are becoming more interested in your surroundings and a little more particular about life. You are already proving yourself to be quite different from your older brother, and you are certainly keeping us on our toes. Your favorite place is cuddled up on someone’s chest – surprise, surprise! But you are also happy to spend a little bit of time in your swing or on a blanket on the floor. You have impressed us by getting the hang of rolling from front to back rather early. For about a week now, you have done it at least once every time we put you on the floor for tummy time. You have a love/hate relationship with the swaddle and really seem to like it only if you are very, very tired. You don’t get too bent out of shape very often, but when you do it can be quite a chore to calm you down! Although you are a great eater, nursing is only sometimes soothing to you when you are upset. And you are hit and miss with the pacifier. A warm bath, fresh air, and the Mai Tai have been home-runs, though. We have seen some sleepy smiles from you, but nothing purposeful yet. In fact, you look very serious, if not a bit grumpy, most of the time. I’m sure your expressions will start to vary more soon enough. Your big brother, Marshall, is constantly trying to entertain you, so I’m sure he’ll have you smiling and laughing before long. He is about the silliest kid I’ve met, and we are so excited to see what you two have in store for us as you get older. Keep being amazing, little one. We love you!
